The Management Staff took them out on the golf course to view the Savannah Pond, which was revitalized during the construction of the golf course. This area was classified as a Salt Barren before the inception of the golf course and was void of any wildlife. The Savannah Pond was deepened and rock retaining walls were created during construction. Thousands of small fish, water insects, and small crabs now call this once barren piece of land home. The Club Members were able to view the different living organisms by using pool nets and fishing around. The water quality will be monitored throughout the year to ensure a special habit will remain for all of these creatures. We continued our tour to the Reverse Osmosis plant, managed by Tim Hare with TSG Technologies. Tim explained in detail how the plant has the capacity to produce close to 1 million gallons of water a day, and that the average water use for one person is 50-75 gallons per day. The students were able to walk through the plant and see all of the different filters, tanks and pumps.

Temenos Golf Club will invite the students for another visit this summer and continue to educate them with our environmental practices connected to the Audubon International Society Cooperative Sanctuary Program for Golf Courses.
