Those who represented Anguilla were Comprehensive School students Kyle Hodge, winner; and Canita Ruan who placed second.

They were both first and second place winners of the local Optimist Club Oratorical Contest held in Anguilla earlier in the year.
There were two other competitors from the St. Kitts Optimist Club in Basseterre.

The participants spoke on the topic My Biggest Challenge for a minimum of four and a maximum of five minutes.

Kyle and Canita will now be joining participants from fifteen other zones to compete at the Caribbean district level in which two winners will receive plaques and college scholarship grants.
The oratorical contest is the longest running programme sponsored by Optimist International. It is designed for youth to gain experience in public speaking and to provide them with the opportunity to compete for college scholarships.

The two young students were accompanied by Zone Lt. Governor, Avon Carty and Acting President of the Optimist Club of Anguilla, Monica Hodge.
