A piano recital featuring Kandyce Smith was held at the St Augustine Anglican Church on Sunday May 20. The performance was one in the series presented by the Morlens Music Studio that features students of the Studio. It was attended by a large number of family, friends and visitors.

Kandyce performed a number of pieces ranging from classical to contemporary and popular tunes. She is very skilled on the piano and also has a good voice and ended the programme singing My Favourite Things, from The Sound of Music, accompanied by her teacher Lennox Vanterpool.

Sixteen year old Kandyce liked music from a young age and started to sing from the age of five. She studied piano with Daphne Jacobs-Richardson from 1998 and in 2000 transferred to the Morlens Music Studio.

Kandyce is very active in her church, in the Pathfinder’s Club, Master Guide Club, the Ambassadors Drum Band and Choir. She is also a member of the Albena Lake Hodge Comprehensive School Concert Choir and Band.

The Morlens Music Studio was established in 1989 and is dedicated to the development and advancement of youth through music. At the Studio young musicians may follow several pathways in their music education including music appreciation, practical musicianship, music theory, piano, brass winds and woodwinds.
