One is a modified and improved offering of Netspeak. This facility entails three basic plans for unlimited calling to the USA, Canada, UK and Western Europe as well as the US Virgin Islands, Puerto Rico and St. Maarten. The cost is EC$99.95 per plan. Going along with the offer are various basic combinations, all geared to meeting the needs of customers.

The second offer is Blackberry Lite. This provides internet access with up to one megabyte of data to new Blackberry users for a price of EC$27. The data is separate from the voice plan. One megabyte is equivalent to 500-1000 basic email messages, according to Vice President, Mobile Lester Forman. “It is like having a mini-computer wherever you go and to send and receive emails. There is a phone on the same device,” Chief Executive Sutcliffe Hodge,” commented.

Speaking on the first offer, Mr. Hodge said Cable and Wireless had launched its Netspeak product over one year ago but responding to the requests of customers, had modified the system. “Today we are very excited about announcing some new prices and some new destinations that we have added to this portfolio,” he told a press briefing on Tuesday, May 22.
Mr. Hodge went on: “Unfortunately, we have a process that we go through before we can actually alter our prices. This is not true for our competitors. They can come up with new offerings and they need to only inform the Regulator. In the case of Cable & Wireless, because we are deemed to be the dominant operator, we to have to seek regulatory approval and I think it is important the public understands this.”
He was of the view that this requirement of Cable and Wireless gave competitors, who had an opportunity to preview the offerings, a chance to imitate such offerings. “Be that as it may, we believe our offering is superior in many ways to what we have seen promoted and I think our customers are going to be delighted with the offering as it relates to Netspeak,” he stated.

In addition to Mr. Hodge and Mr. Forman, Marketing Manager, Giesel Francis and Vanessa Ruan, Retail Manager.
