The highly qualified and experienced former resident at Island Harbour recently returned home from New York to succeed Mr. Preston Bryan. He will be retiring on May 31, but will stay on as a consultant for three months at the request of the Board of Directors.
Starry, as she is popularly known, completed her secondary education at the Charlotte Amalie High School in St. Thomas. She then left the US Virgin Islands for New York where she worked at JP Morgan Chase, a banking institution, for 29 years.
Following a period of further studiers, she graduated with honours from the College of Mount St.Vincent with a Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration. She continued her education at Daniels School of Business at the University of Denver, Colorado and obtained a degree in Leading Change/Creating Results.
Mrs. Webster-Benjamin is proud of the opportunity to return home to make a contribution to Anguilla where she grew up.
Mr. Bryan, who is equally happy to have her as his successor, said she joined CCB at a good time when the institution had reached a high level of development and boasts a good and well-trained staff. He stated that with Mrs. Webster-Benjamin’s over 20 years of experience he was confident that he was leaving CCB in good hands. He is even more proud that his successor is a woman.
He described her as being knowledgeable, resourceful and capable.
A cocktail reception to welcome her was held at Serenity Restaurant at Shoal Bay on Wednesday evening. Speaking at the occasion, she said she had retuned home with great pride and humility to accept the post. She stated that the lessons she learned at JP Morgan Chase, together with her unquestionable dedicated work ethic and strong leadership abilities, would serve her well at CCB to set goals and achieve desired results.
She acknowledged the astute leadership and dedication of Mr. Bryan over his 30-year career with CCB and offered him her best wishes in his retirement and future endeavours. She was grateful to the Board of Directors for selecting her for the post and promised to work tirelessly to validate that decision. She also expressed gratitude to the staff for their warm welcome and support; and to friends and family for supporting her return home.
Mrs. Webster-Benjamin made the following pledge: “My vision for CCB is to be the best Financial Services provider with a service quality second to none; where our products and services match the ever-growing and ever-changing needs of customers; and where there is a maximised value for all our stakeholders. It is on this vein that I look forward to building and, in some instances, expanding relationships with all of you as I serve you with honour, honesty and humility.”
