The Organising Committee of the Central Christian School First Annual Golf Charity Tournament was delighted to hand over a check for over US$57,000 to The Central Christian School. This amount represents the net proceeds of the first major fundraising golf event held on April 21st 2007 at the Temenos Golf Club.

This charitable event was part of the overall fundraising drive to raise funds for an expanded and comprehensive new school facility for the Central Christian School.

Janine Edwards from the Organising Committee said: “We enjoyed great success with this event – even beyond our hopes. We achieved keen interest in the tournament with one hundred and twenty-one golf players. We had to turn away many would-be participants due to that fact that we reached the maximum number feasible for the tournament. As icing on the cake, we received a surprise anonymous check donation of over US$9,000 through the kindness of some Malliouhana Hotel guests on the day of the event.”

The players and other onlookers said that they found the event well organized and exciting. For many it was their first time playing on the Temenos Golf Course. Over eighty players came from St. Maarten/ St. Martin/ St. Barths, with the rest comprising residents of and visitors to Anguilla.
