The training was conducted last week by University of the West Indies, Cave Hill Campus Lecturer, Akentoolove Corbin. He told The Anguillian that the course was about leadership and management training.

The objective was to assist the care providers in improving their skills in planning, leadership, management, communications, business writing and using the internet.

“The intention was to give them some skills that would help them to improve their performance on the job,” Mr. Corbin explained. “They were very participative. We had role plays, scenarios, assessing leadership skills and characteristics of leadership. We also did personality profiling and its impact on leadership and looked at tools that can assist the Middle Managers in the Health Authority to improve their performance on the job.”

Clavis Gumbs, Human Resource Officer responsible for Training and Development, said the course was organised because the health personnel needed some refresher training. “They found the course to be very informative and that it brought out a lot out of them,” she added.

Human Resource Manager, Meridith Gumbs, was pleased with the organisation and outcome of the course and spoke highly about the participation of the health personnel.
