Police Report Various Robberies


The royal Anguilla Police Force issued a press release on Tuesday, April 10, following an outcry on the island about repeated acts of violent robbery.


The release is as follows:

“Over the past month, the Royal Anguilla Police Force is reporting a number of robberies which were committed in Cul-de-Sac, Lockrum, South Hill and West End areas, to of which occurred over the Easter weekend by a masked assailant(s) who in addition to taking property, subjected the female occupants to further trauma by indecently assaulting them. During the commission of the crime it is reported that the assailant(s) either possessed a firearm or some other offensive weapon.

“The Royal Anguilla Police Force is soliciting the assistance of the general public to remove the predator(s) from the community and bring them to justice. Though the crime rate remains relatively low, we are aware that these incidents have induced much fear in residents and visitors alike. Be assured that the police are doing everything within their power to address the incidents and to minimise others from occurring.

“The general public is reminded that they have a part to play in the prevention of crime. Avoid sleeping with unlocked doors and open windows, secure your valuables, improve your perimeter lightings, take simple precautions and report any suspicious activity to the police and talk to your neighbours about wt you see.”

We are also willing to pay a reward to anyone who supplies information about illegal firearms which lead to the seizure of the firearms.
