U-13 Male National Team

The Anguilla U-13 football Team returned from a successful tour of St. Kitts on Monday. They participated in a friendly quadrangle tournament with St. Kitts teams one and two and Nevis. In the first encounter Anguilla narrowly defeated St. Kitts by score of one (1) goal to nil (0), with Captain Mensah Richardson scoring the lone goal. Anguilla went under to Nevis 2 goals to 0 in the second game, but stormed back to beat St. Kitts #1 by a score of 2 goals to nil. Both teams were dead locked at 2 goals a piece at the end of regular time, but Anguilla’s boys held their nerves and outscored St. Kitts by 2 goals to nil (0) on penalty kicks.


Anguilla had to overcome a two goal deficit at halftime, but strikes from Aryn and Javed drew them level with St. Kitts by the end of full time. Both Javed and Vershawn scored their penalties while St. Kitts missed all three of theirs. Anguilla, St. Kitts and Nevis all ended on 6 points, with two wins and one lost, but St. Kitts 1 placed first, Nevis second and Anguilla third, after the goal average was worked out. The U-13 team was coached by Colin Liddie and managed by Colin Johnson. They will next travel to St. Martin over the Easter week-end to participate in a regional U-13 tournament.

The C.C. B. Female Football League got off to a rousing start on Wednesday 28th February when Super Stars and Youngsters squared off in a very interesting and entertaining encounter. It was Super Stars who drew first blood when Makaiba Reid latched onto a pass from Cassilda Thomas and headed home from close range. Youngsters never quit and 4 minutes before the final whistle Shakeela Romney scored the equalizer from just outside the penalty box. Raquel Hazell of Super Stars was adjudged player of the game in the 1 all encounter.

On Sunday 1st April in the first game of the double header, Shining Stars blew past Gazelles by a score of 3 goals to 1. It was zero, zero at the end of the first half, but an own goal form Mauricia Saddler and strikes from Morihinzi Richardson and Jaynelle Lake gave Shining Stars a resounding victory, even though Krystie Webster managed to score a consolation goal late in the second half. Jaynelle Lake of Shining Stars was the player of the game as as they defeated the Gazelles by a score of 3 goals to 1.

In the night cap it was Lil Soldiers who emerged victorious over Youngsters by a score of 2 goals to 0. Shelissa Williams and Melesa Anderson scored either side of half time as they recorded their first win in the 2007 tournament.

It was a game in which, defender Shakeela Romney of the Youngsters sustained an injury to her right leg and had to leave the game. The most outstanding player of the game was Melesa Anderson.

The next games will be played on Sunday the 8th of April when Super Stars play Gazelles at 3.pm and Shining Stars come up against Lil Soldiers at 4:00pm. All matches will be played at the Ronald Webster Park, Annex, so come out and support your favourite team.
