SOL AND SHELL GIVES AWAY ELEVEN SUZUKI GRAND VITARAS Shell Launches Regional Promotion


“Power Up and Win” a brand new fully loaded Suzuki Grand Vitara with Shell. An exciting new promotion has begun at your local Shell station giving all Shell consumers the chance to win but, this is just part of the story. Starting locally on February 26th , in Anguilla, this promotion is being run simultaneously across 11 of the 12 markets Sol operates in. This adds up to an impressive 11 Suzuki Grand Vitara’s on offer to be won making it one of the most significant promotions ever run by Shell, in this region.

The “Power Up and Win” promotion follows on the heals of the successful Shell V-Power gasoline launch and is just the latest exciting move that Sol and Shell have made since Sol acquired Shell’s fuel marketing businesses and entered into a licensing arrangement for the Shell trademark in its retail operations in this region. Sol currently operates a retail business in 12 markets across the Eastern Caribbean, Guyana, Suriname and Puerto Rico, and has been actively shaking up the retail fuels market in the region.

The launch of Shell V-Power gasoline included one of the most ambitious and successful launch events ever held in the Caribbean with the Shell V-Power Ferrari Formula 1 Showcase Event. This took place in Barbados and included the shipping in of 2 Ferrari Formula 1 cars, full pit crew and a test driver to the Caribbean. This was the first time a Formula 1 car was driven on any road anywhere in the Caribbean!
Hewlett Gumbs Country Manager of Sol St Lucia Ltd. (Anguilla) commenting on the new promotion and all that has lead up to it remarked, “the Power Up and Win promotion continues to build on the new energy and excitement that Sol has injected into the Shell brand in this region.

With the launch of the new Shell V-Power gasoline, the most powerful formulation of gasoline ever marketed by Shell in this region, we have improved our own and set new standards for the delivery of a gasoline product that cleans and protects our consumers’ engines like no other.” Mr. Gumbs pointed to testing carried out by Shell Global Solutions (the research and development arm of Shell’s global operations) and also to the feed back that they, as a company, have received from customers as to the difference they have felt since the introduction of Shell V-Power.

Speaking about the Ferrari Showcase Event he said, “With the Shell V-Power Ferrari Formula 1 Showcase Event we gave people an amazing experience that for many will be priceless and stay with them forever, but at the heart of that display was the desire to give people a tangible example of the epitome of what the research and technology, that has gone into all Shell products, can deliver in terms of power and performance.” Speaking at the Power Up and Win promotion, Gumbs saw this as a continuation of the program to focus on and give back to consumers. “We hope consumers are as excited about this promotion as all of us at Sol and Shell are and we wish them all the best of luck.”

The “Power Up and Win” promotion started on February 14th in St Lucia and continues to roll out across the region. The promotion will run for between 6 – 8 weeks in each market with entries being collected towards a grand prize draw to win one of 11 brand new Suzuki Grand Vitaras.
