Anguilla Golf Association Holds Annual Peter Johnstone Claret Cup Tournament


Anguilla Golf Association held the third annual Peter Johnstone Claret Cup Tournament 10 March at Temenos Golf Course with twenty-nine golfers participating. It was an eighteen-hole event and the Claret Cup was presented to Theron Loizos with a gross score of 82. First low net Sally Hayes with a score of 65 and second low net, Lester Foreman with 67.

It was the first time the prestigious event was held at Temenos. Following golf, a social hour was held at Zurras where AGA President, Peter Young, presented prizes and read a brief note of appreciation from former Governor, Peter Johnston, AGA founder and Claret Cup donor. Arrangements were made by AGA tournament Chairman, Tom Wright and Hale Kelly, Golf Professional at Temenos.

The AGA was chartered in 2002 and has been active introducing and promoting the game of golf in Anguilla. They are currently co-sponsoring a four week Junior Golf Program in April in conjunction with Temenos Golf Club. The April program is open to thirty youngsters eight years and older with registration deadline 30 March. For details, call: 222-8200.
