The 16-year-old Fifth Form student at the Albena Lake-Hodge Comprehensive School was at the time travelling as the only passenger in vehicle A4967. He was returning home for his running gear to participate in the J.W. Proctor’s Athletics Challenge.
The vehicle was owned and driven by another athlete, Shirlon Brooks, of North Side. The sports car, which was travelling in a westerly direction, collided with a utility pole on the right side of the road.
A police report stated that Chezroy sustained serious injuries and was pronounced dead on arrival at the Princess Alexandra Hospital. Shirlon, the driver, was detained for treatment and was said to be in a stable condition.

The Anguilla Amateur Athletic Association issued a release on Wednesday expressing sympathy to Chezroy’s family. He was the son of Joseph Desouza (Rockers) and Sonia Desouza (Patsy) of Blowing Point.
The Athletic Association said Chezroy was a promising young athlete who was dedicated to achieving excellence in sports and that he would be greatly missed by his fellow athletes, coaches and fans.
The Association offered its best wishes to Shirlon Brooks for a speedy recovery and hoped to see him back on the track in the near future. The sports body and the sponsors said they regretted the inconvenience caused to athletes and the general public by the postponement of the J.W. Proctor’s Athletics Challenge. A new date will be announced for the holding of the athletic meet.
