Anguillian Chefs Urged To Apply For Culinary Competition

The Anguilla Hotel and Tourism Association is inviting all Chefs and Bartenders to register to join the Anguilla National Culinary Team for this year’s exciting competition – Taste of the Caribbean - to be held again at the Hyatt Regency in Miami between June 19 and 21.

Four chefs and one bartender will be selected for the team and will be among sixteen teams from all over the Caribbean competing for Chef, Team and Bartender of the Year. “It is an exciting, challenging and enjoyable experience for all involved and the premier competition for chefs in the region,” a release from the Anguilla Hotel and Tourism Association stated.
The release, issued by the Association’s Executive Director, Trudy Nixon, continued:

“Thanks for support from the Government of Anguilla, we will once more be able to field a team for this hotly-contested competition and this year we are also looking to encourage extra participation by a selection competition. This competition will help us select not the only the competing team, but also members of a junior team who will be able to attend the practice sessions and competition to observe and learn.

“If you want to get involved with something challenging, interesting and fun, and which will give you fantastic exposure to some of the best chefs and bartenders in the world, please register your interest. All team members must be working in Anguilla and must get their employers’ permission to enter the competition and travel to Miami in June. All expenses for the competition, including flights, accommodation, uniforms and reasonable expenses, will be covered.”

Registration forms are available at the AHTA office at the Anguilla Tourist Board or can be obtained electronically from ahta@anguillanet.comor mimi @capjuluca.ai. The completed forms must be returned to the Hotel Association by Monday, February 19.

The first training session will be held in the kitchens at Pimms and Kemia Restaurants at Cap Juluca on Tuesday, February 20, commencing at 3 pm. The training will be hosted by George Reid, Executive Chef and Technical Consultant to the Anguilla National Culinary Team.
