Anguilla House Speaker At U.S. Prayer Breakfast


Speaker of the Anguilla House of Assembly, the Hon. David Carty, has been invited to Washington DC to attend the National Prayer Breakfast on Thursday, February 1.The invitation on behalf of the US Congress, was received from Congress members Jo Ann Davis and Emanuel Cleaver II.

The annual event, attended by the President of the United States, Senators, Congressmen, invited delegates from the diplomatic community and leaders from around the world, includes a component of spiritual intercession through prayer and thanksgiving for dedicated Christian leadership in Government.

It also includes an opportunity for visitors to discuss with selected US policy-makers issues which have or may have an impact on their home territories.

The Government of Anguilla has asked the Speaker to raise with members of Congress the matter of climate change and its effects on small island states and to explore the possibilities of assistance with the development of an ambitious “green energy” policy for Anguilla.

Meetings in this regard were already scheduled for the Speaker on Friday, February 2.

Mr. Carty returns to Anguilla on Sunday, February 4.
