The training was conducted by John Hilsum and Pat Murgatoryd of the Isle of Wight, two of the partners working with educators in Anguilla.
A release from the Education Department stated that the main objective of the workshop was to underscore the significance of the role of officers in ensuring the effective execution of the island’s education development plan.

The Anguilla Education Officers were pleased to report that they had emerged with a ‘tool kit’ of ideas and initiatives that would assist them in carrying out an effective job in raising the standard of performance of students.

Two specific areas of focus were the undertaking of a school review and developing a school improvement plan.

“It is a pleasure for the department to have a team of competent, knowledgeable, skilled and energetic officers working to take education to the next level,” the release stated.

Chief Education Officer, Rhonda Connor, was grateful to the trainers from the Isle of Wight for their continuing partnership with educators in Anguilla and for assisting in improving the level of teaching, leadership and learning on the island.

The cost of the workshop was met by the Department for International Development, an arm of the British Government.
