Cap Juluca Runs Novel Chef Competition |
| Publishing date: 22.12.2006 11:31 |
Cap Juluca Resort is running a weekly novel chef competition at George’s, one of its three upscale restaurants, providing visitors and residents with some of the best dishes served on the island. It is a promotion that is going very well, Wilma Vanterpool, the Food and Beverage Guest Relations Coordinator, says.

Monday night’s competition attracted many guests who occupied dining tables orderly set out on the expanse of the beach at the restaurant.
“This is our Le Grand Marche, our Iron Chef Competition,” Mrs Vanterpool told the media. “We have three chefs from different parts of the world – one from India (Shadab Labroo) ; one from Indonesia (Bambang Soeprijono); and one from the Caribbean – (our own Jerome Vanterpool).

“They compete every Monday night. There are different menus from their home country including the dessert and salad. At the end of the night our guests have a score card on their tables and they will decide who the best chef at Cap Juluca is.”
The competition started in March this year and, according to Mrs. Vanterpool, it has grown from a party of 30 to 110 guests every Monday night. “We just want the people of Anguilla to know what we are doing here and that they are invited to experience the fine dinning of our Iron Chef Competition for our guests at Cap Juluca as well as those from the other hotels. The door is open to everyone, but they must have reservations at George’s every Monday nightly from 7.30 until…”
Cap Juluca’s Executive Chef, George Reid, is overseeing the competition.

Mrs. Vanterpool is engaged in promoting the resort’s dining services at Cap Juluca’s three restaurants – George’s, Pimms and Kemia.
She is of the view that the Chef Competition is playing an important role in her promotional activities.
