The Royal Anguilla Police Service has reported that its Criminal Investigation Team has arrested and charged two persons for the murder of 19-year-old Clifford Christie of the Quarter. He was fatally injured in an incident at the Ronald Webster Park Annex on Friday, November 10.

The persons charged are Delano Smith 17, of Stoney Ground and Thelston Brooks, 17, of Cauls Bottom. They appeared before the Magistrate’s Court on Tuesday morning, November 14, and were remanded to Her Majesty’s Prison.

The police issued a statement in which they thanked all who assisted the team during its investigations:

“The police are conscious of the fact that without your assistance, there would be difficulties in achieving this type of success in criminal investigations.” The statement added, “We are therefore continuing to appeal to the general public to come forward and give any information as it relates to this matter or any other criminal investigation.”

The incident sent shock waves across the island as it brought home the result of the ugly youth violence that has long been a matter of grave concern.
