Mrs. Johnson, whose American husband is Don Johnson (who works at the Temenos Golf Course), operates her own beauty parlour called Hair by Design, located near the entrance of the Great House, one of Anguilla’s attractive and locally-owned properties. She moved there in July this year.
“My services include everything to do with hair – such as cuts, colouring, perming, eye lash and eyebrow colouring as well as facial waxing,” she says. According to Mrs. Johnson, 99 percent of her clients are local people with Europeans and others making up the rest.
“I have always wanted to do hair-dressing,” she told The Anguillian. It is not just a desire. She is qualified and well-experienced for the beautician job. She was trained at the Morris Class of Hair Dressing International and the World Federation Hair-Dressing Supreme in London. She later specialised with Loreal, also a London cosmetic entity, where she did Advanced Colours and Perms and Advanced Techniques in Hair-dressing.
She has worked in London, the Middle East (where she met her husband), Florida and Costa Rica. It is from the latter country that she came to Anguilla last year with her husband when he was employed at the golf course. She is well-experienced in international hairstyles and has been involved in this area of work since in 1986.
Mrs. Johnson is a very warm and friendly person offering professional hairstyles to all who call on her services. The Anguilla Great House is an ideal place for her boutique and a charming and beautiful property for guests. Her services and those of the hotel are a good mix for all persons visiting there.
The hairstylist’s hours of service are Monday to Friday 9.30 am – 2.00 pm; Wednesday 8.30 am-5.00 pm; and Saturday 10 am-200 pm, all by appointment.
