The Royal Navy Ship, under the command of Commander Jordon, dropped anchor at Road Bay on October 19. The programme over the several days included a luncheon for the Commander and members of the Executive Council and a cocktail reception aboard the ship for guests.

Members of the ship’s crew provided disaster management training for ferryboat operators, and other persons, and support for law enforcement personnel and customs agencies. It was also agreed for the crew to host visits to the frigate by school children.

In addition, crew members and staff from the Governor’s Office, including the Executive Secretary, Angela Finn-Morgan, carried out some refurbishing work inside the Bethel Methodist Church at South Hill, where they scraped and cleaned the walls in preparation for repainting.

A team from the ship also played at a football match with competing local players at the Ronald Webster Park.

Meanwhile, Governor Andrew George travelled aboard the ship’s helicopter on his first visit to Sombrero, where the Anguilla-administered lighthouse is located. The Governor commented that he was fascinated by the island, the birds and black lizards which largely inhabit the barren rock.
