Police in Anguilla chased a 47-year-old man (ES) of Rey Hill, on Tuesday evening, August 22, in the area of Wallblake Road and Rey Hill, when he drove off at high speed. The lawmen, from the Drugs & Firearms Task Force, were on patrol when their attention was drawn to the vehicle as it sped off.

The police reported that during the pursuit the suspicious vehicle, a Mitsubishi Pajero, collided with another vehicle causing minor damage. The officers managed to stop the Pajero and detained the driver.
A bag that had been thrown from the moving vehicle was recovered and found to contain 3.816 kilos of a substance believed to be compressed cannabis. ES appeared before the Magistrate on Wednesday, August 23. He was charged with possession of a controlled substance with intent to supply and was remanded to Her Majesty’s Prison until August 30.
The police press release stated that following the recent successes in the recovery of large amounts of cannabis, the Royal Anguilla Police Force realised the need to remain vigilant at all times. High visibility patrols have been stepped up by the Task Force in recent weeks and clearly the effort and determination of the officers have borne fruit. The police would like to remind those who wish to engage in this type of criminality that they face the full force of the law in Anguilla.
