The representatives came from the United States, Canada, the United Kingdom and the European offices in France, Germany, Italy, Monaco, Spain and in Puerto Rico.

Director of Anguilla’s Tourist Board Office in White Plains, New York, Marie Walker, said the meeting was aimed at ensuring that the representatives maintained the continued excellence they have had over the past year.

“The tourism figures have increased quite significantly over the past year,” Mrs Walker told The Anguillian. “Essentially we want to make sure that we are maintaining our status quo and even beyond that ensuring that we have programmes in place and are heading in the right direction.”

Asked about the functioning of her office, Mrs. Walker replied: “We are doing exceptionally well. We have made significant strides in the marketplace. Our numbers are very strong since opening up the office. I think at the last point of calculation, we were at a 19% increase. We attribute this not just to ourselves but to the wok in the marketplace of our travel partners such as the hoteliers and tour operators and the media which has done a significant job in ensuring constant exposure for Anguilla.”
