A week-long workshop under the auspices of the Anguilla Vibes Foundation (formerly Anguilla Vibes.com) was conducted on Anguilla this week. The workshop was a combined partnership between Anguilla Vibes Foundation and The Creative Youth Theater Foundation of Middleburg, Virginia.

Crispin Brooks, with input from ATA’s Mitchelle Lake, was instrumental in getting Tom Sweitzer – music theatre instructor, Kim Tapper - choreographer and two young people, Dylan Bosserman and Angela Finelli, in coming to Anguilla to hold the week-long activity.

The concept of the workshop was to enhance and enrich the lives of young people through a teach and create experience based on the idea of promoting an on-going arts and cultural exchange experience.

According to Tom Sweitzer he was very impressed with the talent and commitment displayed by the young people participating in the workshop. Activities undertaken included song, dance, acting, writing, improvisation, self-presentation and speaking.

So far the initiative has had the support of thirty-two donors and it is hoped that with continued support it will have far-reaching, long-term and positive effects for the community and the region.

The initiative will culminate in a performance highlighting the accomplishments of the group on Friday July 28, at 3 p.m.

Crispin Brooks especially wanted to thank the sponsors who willing gave to make the workshop a reality. He said that he realised that it was not a programme that was going on for quite some time, but the response nevertheless was outstanding. He stated that it is his desire of him as well as the other persons involved in the workshop to make it an annual event for the short-term, for it have far reaching goals in the years to come thereby giving Anguillian young people another avenue whereby they may be able to express themselves and make a living at the same time.

The Creative Youth Theater Foundation is a drama-centered teen company based in Middleburg, Virginia.
