The telecommunications company has contributed EC$15,000 for the calypso show and EC$13,500 for the children’s pageant.
The Calypso Monarch Show spans over three separate days with the quarter finals on July 14, the semi-finals on July 27 and the finals on August 9. The Junior Prince and Princess Pageant takes place on August 6.
“Our sponsorship of the Calypso Monarch Show and Junior Prince and Princess Pageant is indicative of our appreciation for the local culture and its music and our desire to support the children who represent Anguilla’s future,” stated Stephanie Brooks, Acting Country Manager. “This is Digicel’s first year participating in and supporting the Anguilla Summer Festival. We are happy to have Digicel on board and we are looking forward to doing more in the future.”
Fitzroy Tomlinson, Festivals Coordinator, expressed delight at Digicel’s participation in this year’s festival. “We are happy to have Digicel on board and we appreciate their sponsorships.
Among those present at the press briefing, announcing the donations, were Leroy Richardson and Courtney Morton of JELICO, (organisers of the calypso show) and Kafi Gumbs and Renford Kelsick of the Prince and Princess Pageant organising committee.
