The US nationals comprise seven brothers and sisters of Wilma Vanterpool, Head of the Small Business Development Unit of the Anguilla Development Board and a number of other relatives including Mrs. Vanterpool’s children. Her Anguillian husband, Maurice, who resides in California and some friends from Anguilla were among the gathering.

The American nationals, from Alabama, California and Chicago, took the opportunity of the July 4th Independence Holiday to have a family reunion in Anguilla. The welcome and dining ceremony was held at La Serena Hotel on Tuesday evening.

Mr. Banks, Minister of Finance, Economic Development and Tourism, emphasised the beauty of family life and relationship and the need for relatives to come together ever so often to experience fellowship and love. Mr. Harrigan, the Minister of Infrastructure, Communications and Utilities, joined Mr. Banks in welcoming the family to Anguilla. He noted that Wilma Vanterpool and her husband had their residential home in his Island Harbour constituency and he was pleased that their extended family had come to visit the island.

Members of the family, responding to the Ministers’ welcome, said they were delighted to be in Anguilla and to experience its warm hospitality.
