Under the auspices of the Rotary Club, Anguilla will be represented for the first time ever at the annual World Affairs Seminar in Whitewater, Wisconsin. The Seminar, which is scheduled to take place from June 17 – 23, 2006, is sponsored by the non-partisan, non-profit Wisconsin World Affairs Council in partnership with the University of Wisconsin-Whitewater, and service organizations across the USA and Canada.
Anguilla’s representative will be 16 year-old Régine Niles, an Honor-Roll student and past-president of the Student Council of the Albena Lake Hodge Comprehensive School.

Now in its 30th year, The World Affairs Seminar (“WAS”) is a unique, high- energy educational program for high school students, which provides a forum for future leaders to be introduced to some of the most perplexing global issues and problems. It enables hundreds of students from around the world to come together to study and discuss these issues in a safe and non-threatening environment, while at the same time learning about each others’ customs, traditions, opinions, and aspirations.
The theme for this year’s academic program is Global Leadership and Rising Powers, and the keynote address, “An Owner’s Guide to the Future” will be delivered by Mr. David Zach, one of the few professionally trained futurists in the United States, who holds a master’s degree in Studies of the Future from the University of Houston, Clear Lake. As a futurist, Mr. Zach has worked with over 1000 corporations, schools and associations offering insights into the personal and professional impact of strategic trends. As a speaker, he guides his audience on an entertaining, futuristic tour of technology, economics, business, education, and society. A number of speakers, all experts in their fields, will also deliver the lectures, films, small group discussion sessions, and presentations that will make up the seminar activities for the week.

Miss Niles’ participation is made possible through the Rotary Club of Anguilla and its strategic partners, American Airlines/American Eagle; Social Security of Anguilla; Richards’ Architectural & Design Services; and Rotarian Jack Billingsley of the USA.
