The shouts of excitement and exultation when De Tree, the sleek A-class racing boat, sailed to victory in the round-the-island Anguilla Day race on May 30, were still in the air when the boat out-sailed its competitors in the Whit Monday races and claimed the first prize again.

The wins scored by De Tree, a Blowing Point community-owned boat, posed a stiff challenge to UFO of Island Harbour which gave a good showing in the Easter Monday race when it took first place and maintained its leadership in the Anguilla Regatta event. The first four positions in the Anguilla Day race were as follows: De Tree, first place; Super Star, second; Light & Peace, third; and UFO, fourth.
There were two races on Whit Monday at Meads Bay. The participating A class boats were Light & Peace; UFO, NWO , Eagle, Satellite, Blue Bird, De Tree, Super Star, Lady Maude, Warrior, Miss Anguilla, Stinger and De Chan.
