Preparations are underway in Anguilla for a National Youth Conference from June 21-23, to be delivered by a number of facilitators from the United States.

The lead person making the off-island arrangements is Reverend Ellis Harrigan, an Anguillian Minister residing in Philadelphia. He spoke of his plans at a meeting at the Teachers’ Resource Centre on Wednesday this week, attended by local pastors and youth workers. Along with him was Dr. Randolph Walters, a Psychologist at Eastern University in Philadelphia who also gave an outline of what the conference will entail and the names of some of the speakers.

The aim of the conference is to address a number of behavioural problems and crime among young people in Anguilla and possible ways of dealing with the situations.

Reverend Harrigan and Dr. Walters also met later with Ministers and officials of Government to inform them of the conference and to obtain their support.
