Anguillian Students Receie Awards At SUNY Cobleskill


SUNY Cobleskill college recently held its annual 2006 Awards Convocation at Bouck Hall Auditorium. Among those receiving awards and recognition were four Anguillian students.

In the Accounting and Financial Division, Kenny-Anne Proctor was honored for her admission to Who’s Who Among Students in American Junior Colleges and Marissa Rey received the Orange Key Appreciation award and RA Scholarship Achievement award.

In the Culinary Arts, Hospitality, and Tourism Division, Chantelle Davis was admitted to Who’s Who Among Students in American Junior Colleges and also recognized as a Travel and Marketing Outstanding Student. Karimah Bethel received the RA Scholarship Achievement Award.

Who’s Who awards are given to outstanding student leaders recognized for academic achievement, service to the community, leadership in extra curricular activities, and potential for personal and career success. Award recipients join student’s selected from more than 1800 institutions of higher education in the U.S. and overseas.

Orange Key members are students selected by faculty to serve as ambassadors of the college. They are committed to leadership and act as hosts and hostesses for various campus functions throughout the year.

Students who received the RA Scholarship Achievement Award are appointed after competing in a highly competitive selection process. They are recognized as student leaders, role models, and advocates of the student conduct code. To be eligible for awards, students must have achieved a 3.5 grade point average.

There presently are 13 Anguillian students enrolled at SUNY Cobleskill and several more have been accepted for the fall semester. An academic partnership between SUNY Cobleskill-Anguilla was formed in 1997 and has resulted in many Anguillian students getting their AA and BA degrees at the Cobleskill, NY College.
