Eighteen golfers participated in the last scramble tournament held on March 18. That event ended with two teams tied, each with a score of 30 strokes. The playoff between the two teams ended on the second hole when the team comprising Martin Welch, Hillary O’Connor and Paula Walden won by one stroke over the second place team of Sally and Joe Hayes and Chester Walden.

Third place in this scramble went to the team of Ron and Denise Jackson and Georgia Young. Prizes were awarded to the members of the three teams at a reception at Roy’s Bayside Restaurant following the tournament.

On Saturday, April 8, the Golf Association will sponsor the 18-hole Peter Johnstone Claret Cup medal play tournament. The cup is a gift from the former Governor, an avid golfer and an original founder of the association.
