The unveiling was done by NBA’s first Chairman, Conrad Walton Fleming, one of the early promoters. The others, who, with Mr. Fleming are portrayed on the canvas by artist Aileen Smith, are Fabian Fahie, Kennedy Hodge, Timothy Hodge, Ralph Hodge, George Kentish, Albert S. Lake and Cecil Niles.
Current Chairman of the Bank, Joseph Norris Payne, praised the promoters for their vision, NBA for its 21 years of its successful operations, all the staff and directors and other stakeholders for their support.
Timothy Hodge spoke on behalf of the promoters who purchased the Bank of America Branch in 1985 to create the National Bank of Anguilla. “We, the promoters, are most pleased with the results which had exceeded our wildest expectations,” he said. “NBA’s success must be credited to all who bought shares, the staff, directors, business and customers.”
Mrs Aileen Smith, the artist said the portrait painting was the biggest and most challenging work she had ever undertaken. She was grateful to Timothy Hodge for his faith in her and thanked NBA’s Board of Directors for commissioning her to do the painting.
