A Caring Home Away From Home |
| Publishing date: 09.03.2006 13:41 |
A privately-run home for the elderly, called Tender Loving Care, at Rey Hill, is not just another name. It in fact epitomises a quality of service for senior citizens that meets all the high standards one can expect at such a facility. Above all, it has the confidence and support of a number of busy families who have committed their loved ones there.

Owner of the home, Brenda Hodge, is an ideal person to offer this caring service. The daughter of William and Vera Hodge of George Hill, she is a trained care provider. “I have been a nurse for a number of years,” she told The Anguillian. “I did nursing in New York, worked in Florida and then moved back to Anguilla where I served at the Princess Alexandra Hospital and have been caring for a lot of the elderly folk.”
She started the home in August 2004. “It gives me a fulfillment in life that I am doing something for the senior citizens,” she went on. “They are very appreciative and thankful and I can see on their faces that it means a lot to them. Being a nurse, I find that I am very caring and compassionate and I think that, more than anything else, is what is keeping this home going.” Her assistant is Pastor Marilyn Bryan, another person well fit to serve at the home.

The well-organised home is situated downstairs Nurse Hodge’s residence and has eight beds, seven of which are occupied by senior citizens from various parts of the island. She and her two young sons live upstairs.
