Excellence In Leadership Award For Stanford


The Inter-American Economic Council has announced the selection of Mr. Allen Stanford as the 2006 recipient of the Excellence in Leadership Award. The presentation was made in Washington, DC on February 9.

Mr. Stanford is Chairman and CEO of the Stanford Private Wealth Management and Chairman of Caribbean Star and Sun Airlines. He was unable to be in Anguilla last week for the presentation of the cheque of US$100,000 to the Cricket Association.
In announcing the Council’s decision to honour Mr. Stanford, President of the IAEC, Barry Feartherman said: “We admire and acknowledge Allen’s entrepreneurial achievements and generosity in promoting and, indeed, expanding economic and social development opportunities throughout the Caribbean and Latin America.”

As Chairman of the Houston-based Stanford Private Wealth Management, Stanford leads a global wealth management and financial services organisation with offices spanning across North America, Latin America, Europe and the Caribbean. Stanford companies operate in relation with more than 70,000 clients from 102 countries. He also recently announced a US$28 million contribution to cricket in the Caribbean.
