Letter To The Editor

The Anguillian Newspaper
Valley, Anguilla
B.W.I

Dear Editor:

Anguillians should know that during a meeting some years ago, that Hon. Osbourne B. Fleming held with Anguillians in New York, yours truly made the suggestion that the Government of Anguilla should strive to become more transparent, and seek to provide timely and accurate information to Anguillians on and around issues that affect their daily lives; as well as to create a public forum to give Anguillians a pro-active voice whereby they could express their opinions, and seek re-dress on issues and concerns.

To that end, I further suggested that the elected officials of the Government of Anguilla should hold regular town meetings among the various constituencies throughout the island to provide information, encourage discussions and give the indigenous citizens of Anguilla, a pro-active voice to participate in their governmental affairs.

Needlessly to say, based on reports and articles in our very own newspaper “The Anguillian Newspaper”, I am very pleased to know that my suggestion has been implemented in its entirety. The Government of Anguilla has sought transparency by establishing an office of Public Relations, conducting town meetings throughout the island, and more importantly the indigenous citizens of Anguilla are exercising their rights to be heard on and around issues that affect their daily lives now and in the future.

Good governance is the jewel treasure of our island of Anguilla in the Eastern Caribbean, is pro-active voices for the people, by the people and for the good of the people...and that includes pro-active voices of Anguillians or those of Anguillian descent who live outside of Anguilla. “In unity there is strength.”
