Stoney Ground Special Needs Class Says Thanks

The students of the Stoney Ground Special Needs Class assembled on Friday to thank various supporters for the contributions they made to assist them in learning the art of baking. The special needs class taught by Mrs. Carol Webster baked cupcakes, pineapple upside down cake and other goodies as part of the activities to assist them in grasping the basic curriculum of math and reading.

Headmistress Marilyn Richardson who spoke at the gathering said that Carol is a determined teacher who goes all out to ensure that her students are given the best possible opportunities to improve themselves and learn skills that they can utilize throughout their lives.

Mrs. Webster incorporates basic life skills into the curriculum. One of the skills she recently taught was baking. She was able to accomplish this with the assistance of various businesses and persons in the community, namely, Expan Company Limited, Karl T. Smith, SOL (formerly Shell Antilles), Pansy Richardson, Euridity Browne, Ku Resort an Bonita Klemm (one of her instructors from SUNY). Some of the donated items include, but not limited to: stove, refrigerator, tables, microwave, dishes, cooking and baking utensils.

As part of the ceremony the students sang the song by Bill & Gloria Gaither – I’m Something Special.
