The presentation was made on Tuesday, November 8, during a visit to the school by honorary member of the Club, Calvert Carty and secretary, Karen Richardson, two former employees of the General Post Office.
Mr. Carty told students that the club had adopted the school as part of its social outreach on the island and that the dictionaries would be very good to assist them with their reading, learning and with finding the meaning of new and bigger words.

“The little words you are now learning at the kindergarten level will sooner or later become bigger as your vocabulary expands to use larger words,” he instructed the children. “It will then be necessary for you to resort to the dictionary sometimes to get the meaning of words. The dictionary is just like any other ordinary book. It gives a lot of information in syllables and in other forms so that you can know how to spell and pronounce the words, give you their meaning and also makes reference to other words which have similar meanings and so increase your knowledge.”
The dictionaries were presented to student Shervernae Harrigan by Karen Richardson on behalf of the Postal Club.
Replying, on behalf of the students and the teaching staff, the Principal, Ornette Edwards-Gumbs, expressed thanks to Miss Richardson and the Postal Club for the timely gift. She added that the dictionaries would enhance the teaching and learning process at the school.
