Anguilla, St. Maarten In Domino Games

Much is being contributed to the friendship between the people of Anguilla and their next-door neighbours in St. Martin/St. Maarten through various sporting activities being played in the territories.

The latest activities are a series of friendly domino matches which, apart from the friendships they are creating, are keeping the traditional game alive and exciting.
Within recent days the St. Maarten domino team, The Public Works Warriors came to Anguilla on a blustery and rainy Sunday morning to engage the Stoney Ground Warriors in a day-long match that attracted a large following, at Bryan’s Shop, from both territories.
They played for the prize of six cases of beer. The result was that the Stoney Ground Warriors beat the St. Maarteners 21-17 and kept the beer, thus sparing their friends the trouble of taking the bulky cargo with them.
The Anguilla team will be travelling to St. Maarten this weekend to engage the Public Works Warriors in a return match on their home soil.
Some formal tournament matches have been planned for later.
