Literacy Month at Island Harbour Primary School

The month of September was designated as Literacy Month, World Literacy Day being on September 8.

On that day, a past teacher at the Island Harbour Primary School, Patricia Adams, was invited to talk to students about the importance of being literate. She also shared stories, poems and songs with the teachers and students.

On September 16, an in-house Spelling B Competition was held. This activity was moderated by Antoinette Pickering from FirstCaribbean Bank which has adopted the school as one of its community projects.

On September 23, there was an in-housed literacy quiz. Students from grades one to six participated in the competitions. Certificates and gifts were distributed to the participating students on September 30.
