The couple met at Medical School in Cuba where they are both students on CARICOM Scholarships. Ayanna is the daughter of retired Deputy Principal of the Comprehensive School, Anne Edwards, and Tracey Gumbs who gave her away.
The bride wore an off-the-shoulder white wedding dress which was fitted snugly to her waist by criss-cross ribbons plaited at the back. Her train was designed with beads and attached at the back. The effect of the outfit at the August 5 wedding could only be described as stunning as the bride walked gracefully across the sand at Cap Juluca to meet her groom who was waiting with the officiating Minister, Reverend John A. Gumbs. The dress was designed by Melody Bridal Collections of New York.
The groomsmen wore navy blue suits, while the groom was attired in a white suit with a baby blue shirt.

Bridal Party

Four of the bride’s sisters officiated as bridesmaids, while the bride’s cousin, Anna Richardson Rabess, a former Miss Anguilla Queen, was Maid of Honour. All the bridesmaids wore baby blue evening dresses with sequins and beads designing both the front and back.
Among those in attendance were the mother of the groom and his three brothers and a cousin who came in from Honduras. There were 60 guests among whom were the bride’s godparents, Anna Gumbs and Maureen Daniels, her High School friend, Michele, and her Cuban friend, Tammy. Also present were Rashida Kiestedt and John Huggins, who were Ayanna’s caretakers when she was schooling in New York. All the attendees felt that the bride was spectacular and a natural beauty.
The couple said they were very appreciative of the care, love and the Cap Juluca wedding fancy showered on them. They expressed thanks to General Manager, Eustace Guishard, Junita Fleming, Verna Gumbs and all other workers at Cap Juluca who ensured that their day was a special one.
