The stamps were commissioned by Soical Security to highlight three areas of the S.S. functions to Anguilla society. Community Service, Employee Benefits and Benefits for all ages. The stamps portray images of Anguillians at work, play and in various age groups. The stamps will be on sale along with a first day stamping at the Anguilla Post Office in the Valley.

Digital Design
The computer changed everything for artist Jo-Anne Mason about seven years ago. Before then she was creating paintings on canvas and walls until a friend asked her to create a brochure and suggested using his computer to complete the task. Ready for a new challenge, Jo-Anne proceeded into this magical world with much gusto. Too much at times, the poor computer was subjected to many crashes as the learning progressed. With only a mouse and the simple paint program provided with the computers software she managed to design the brochure and print copies.
Soon brushes and paint were boxed and forgotten as the new computer arrived complete with a digital pad and stylist pen. A new paint program allowed the artist to explore a variety of paint styles and colors. It was fantastic! Anything you could do on paper or canvas could be created on the computer. Artwork began to pour from this digital art box at a great rate. Anything was possible.
Frank Costin of Savannah Gallery, a supporter of Jo-Anne's art suggested a show of her new digital art. This was quite a leap of faith as digital art was just coming on to the art scene and not accepted by many artists, dealers and buyers. Frank, always ready to try something new was enthusiastic about the event. The show was a great success in many ways. Art lovers were impressed with the images, sales were brisk and Anguilla had its first digital artist. Jo-Anne was also fortunate to meet her future husband, a digital designer in his own right and the two joined forces to begin creating non-stop on their arsenal of digital equipment.

People coming into the studio for the first time are amazed at the amount of equipment that fills the rooms of their work area but to Chris and Jo-Anne this is simply an artist’s studio with endless possibilities. Now with the help of several computers, dual monitor screens, scanners, digital cameras and a number of graphic programs the tools finally match the imagination.

Jo-Anne’s latest love involves writing and illustrating books. The illustrations are all done on the computer with the help of some fantastic programs with huge pallets of color and an artist’s box full of brushes and tools. Using her digital drawing pad much like a pen or brush on paper, Jo-Anne has created two books so far, a small book of digital prints about Anguilla and its social scene and the latest a children’s book due to be released sometime this year. More highly illustrated books are in the works.
Chris and Jo-Anne live in Island Harbour on the Sea Rocks and work out of their home studio as Netconcepts. They specialize in websites and print material for clients locally and abroad. And when the mood strikes, Jo-Anne will pull out the tubes and brushes to create in a more traditional manner. Read more about Netconcepts.
