Anguilla Represented At World Youth Championships In Morocco


Anguilla was represented at the just concluded World Youth Championships which were held in Marrakech, Morocco, from 13th to the 17th July. The International Association of Athletics Federation (IAAF) organizes these championships every two years for athletes under 18 years of age, from all over the world.

Representing Anguilla at this prestigious track and field event were Emeris Rogers and Shara Proctor. Emeris competed in the 100-meter event and ran a personal best of 11.41 seconds, beating his previous best of 11.78 seconds. Shara competed in the long jump and placed 6th overall with a jump of 6.13 meters. This was 0.11 metere less than the 6.24 meters she jumped at the CARIFTA games in March of this year.

The athletes benefited much from the highly competitive environment as well as from the social interaction and the cultural exchanges with their peers from all over the world.

The athletes were accompanied by coach Wilma Proctor.
