Fun Day For Scouts And Guides A Success


His Excellency the Governor and Chief Scout of Anguilla, Mr. Alan Huckle, and his wife Helen, hosted a fun day for Scouts and Guides at Government House on Saturday, 2nd April.

About 170 Scouts, Cub Scouts, Guides and Brownies attended, including twenty-six Scounts from the British Virgin Islands who were enjoying an eight day camp on Anguilla under the tutelage of BVI Scouts Commissioner, Mr. Ulric Scatcliff.

Games included the traditional races, tug o’war, apple bobbing and breaking the piñata as well as a treasure hunt and an Easter egg hunt. The day closed with a formal flag lowering ceremony. All participants declared they had enjoyed the day.

The organisers included the Scout Commissioner, Mr. Othlyn Vanterpool, the Guides Commissioner, Ms. Linda Banks, the Chairman of the Scouts Association, Mr. Kenn Banks and the Vice-Chairman, Mrs. Dana Ruan and other volunteer leaders.

The Governor hopes that this will become an annual event at Government House.
