The competition took place at the nine-hole pitch and putt course at Sandy Ground, an area of land just behind the Sandy Ground playing field.

The 16 players who took part in the competition were members of the Anguilla Golf Association, one of whose founders is former Governor, Peter Johnstone, who recently sent the trophy for the competition from England.

Golf Association President, Chester Walden, presented the trophy to the winner and golf balls to Mayhew and Wright. He thanked the players for participating in the competition and was particularly grateful to Mr. Johnstone whom he said would have been happy to witness the occasion.

Mr. Morgan, expressed his delight in being the winner of the first competition and a member of the Anguilla Golf Association.
