St. Augustine's Chorale Thrills Audience |

The St. Augustine’s Chorale climaxed the religious observance of Easter with a thrilling presentation entitled “He’s Alive” on Sunday March 27 at the Anglican Church at East End.

Dubbed “A Triumphant Celebration of Easter,” the cantata attracted a large and appreciative audience whose comments have been of the highest commendation. Prolonged applause and a standing ovation, by many persons who were attempted to express their delight at the conclusion of each item of the Easter story, followed the end of the programme.
The Chorale, directed by Lennox Vanterpool, is to be repeated on Sunday, April 3, not only because of the goodwill of the 28-strong group, but as a result of the desire of many persons to experience the presentation.
The selections included Crown Him with Many Crowns (along with Alleluia! Alleluia!);Hosanna; Gateway to Gethsemane; Not my Will (with Come Holy Sprit);Crown of Thorns; In a Heartbeat; the Blood Will Never Lose its Power’; There’s Not a Crown Without a Cross; He’s Alive; and Redeemer.

The various well-known selections were powerfully presented by the chorale group. The singing was led in many cases by such outstanding soloists as Lyndon Duncan, Chrispen Gumbs, Margaret Augustus, James Harrigan and Amelia Vanterpool-Kubisch.
The other singers were Gina Brooks-Hodge, Avonelle Caragliano, Angelica, Annette, Deseree and Maureen Duncan, Kathleen Fleming, Ursula Harigan, Agnes Duncan-Maurice, Iris Richardson, Audrey Rogers, Shelia Allen, Pansy Richardson, Zulma Webster, William Allen, Evans Harrigan, Kenneth Harrigan, Kenrick Hodge, Stephen Hopkins, Delvin Fleming, Calvin Harrigan and Daryl Hodge.
During the programme there was a narration of the Easter story by Assistant Priest, Reverend Menes Hodge.

The well-delivered programme, which included three beautiful renditions by Dumpa Martin on the steel pan, was followed by the benediction by Bishop Errol Brooks.
