Primary Schools' Road Race


The Annual Primary Schools Road Race sponsored by Tropical Shipping took place on Friday March 18th in The Valley. The competition was in two categories, Juniors (under ten years) a distance of one and a half miles and Seniors (ten years and over), a distance of three mile.

The results were as follows: the Stoney Ground Primary School took the first three places in the Junior Girls category, with Nicole Gumbs (first), Tequania Lake (second) and Rechelle Meade (third).

In the Junior Boys category Jadel Carty and Saleem Reid of Road Primary lead the way to the finish with Lyrod Brooks of the Valley Primary coming in third.
Jonicia Richardson of the S.G.P. was first in record time in the Senior Girls section, while her schoolmate Shadie Richardson finished second. Julesha Connor of the Valley Primary was third.

Arryn Reid of the S.G.P. bettered his previous record in winning the senior boys category. Jovon Hodge also of S.G.P. followed him while Keyon Lee of V.P. was third.
The Tropical Shipping Primary Schools Road Race is the prelude to Sports Day which will be held on Wednesday March 21st on the Ronald Webster Park beginning at 9:30 a.m. with an opening ceremony and march past. Tropical Shipping also sponsors the Primary Schools Sports Day through their local agent Haskins Ltd.
