Dear Editor,
Thank You
Last Saturday the Parish of St. Gerard’s was reminded once again of the true meaning of “community” with the success of their 22nd Annual West Indian Garden Party. This huge undertaking was accomplished with the help of many individuals, some members of the Parish of St. Gerard’s and many other members of this island community who, year after year, assist in one way or another through donations of food, time or talent with this event.

In addition, many hotels, restaurants and bakeries donated cakes and/or salads and other businesses provide discounts on their merchandise for the party. The schools and other churches and organizations allowed us to borrow chairs, tables and tents for our guests.
We were also lucky to have the assistance of those that provide us with pick up and delivery for these items as well as trash pickup after the event. Government provided licenses and police officers to assist us with parking. The list goes on and on. There are so many individuals that helped with their donations in one way or another that we feel indeed blessed!
Finally, there were over 400 adults and children that joined us to celebrate this community-building event. It is said that it takes a village to raise a child. In St. Gerard’s case, it takes a community to have a Garden Party! We thank all of you.
Sincerely,
Suzie Donahue
