Carla Smith, Doctor Of Pyschology


Carla Smith, a scholar of Anguillian parentage, has graduated with a doctorate degree in Psychology from York University in Ontario, Canada. There she successfully defended her thesis entitled: “Naturalistic Observation of girls and boys playground aggression”.

She commenced her doctoral studies after earning the B.A. (Honours) degree and the M.A. degree also from York University.

Dr. Smith is the daughter of Dorothy Smith nee Richardson formerly of Long Bay, Anguilla and Edmead Smith formerly of Bath Village, Nevis.

Dr. Smith, who is the niece of the Richardsons of Fredericksted, Long Bay, is a devout Christian whose special interests are youth and music.

Her father has published two anthologies of poems and her mother, who is keenly interested in poetry, received a medal from the late Jeremiah Gumbs in recognition of her poem “My Wonder Dog Spot.” It was published in one of the first issues of the Valley Secondary School Magazine.
