The 2004 Sixth Form Graduates of the Albena Lake-Hodge Comprehensive School have been told to dream big. The Graduates

“All of you here have dreams about what you want your life to be. I say to you while you are dreaming, dream big,” she told the over 20 graduates. “Your dreams will take you in different directions for varying reasons. Some of you will embark on a path of higher education, while others will enter the world of work. However, whichever road you take to fulfill your dream life, you must remember that in order to excel you will have to work hard. Be prepared to siege opportunities when they arise and never fool yourself into believing that you should not and will not face difficulties.”
“As a young developing island state…Anguilla needs visionaries at all levels. All of us must envision a bolder and brighter Anguilla, where education is redefined to embrace the notion that learning is a life-long process and moving us towards becoming a wise society.”

Ms Rogers went on: “A level classes must be seen as incubators for creative, analytical and liberal people. We should not treat students at this level as children because they are not, but give them an important vehicle in all bright Anguilla. In this bright and bolder Anguilla you must prepare yourself not to go where the ordinary path may lead. Go instead where there is no path and blaze a trail.”

Special Assistant in the Ministry of Social Development, Rhona Richardson, congratulated the graduates on behalf of the Government and people of Anguilla. “At this stage of your life you have a future which you can influence by paying attention to your past,” she advised them. “Plan and prepare properly. Nurture those qualities that have brought you success so far and should serve you well as you look to the future.”
