Dear Osbourne & Victor
I write to confirm receipt of your letter dated June 6, 2004 where you stated categorically that the Anguilla United Front (AUF) has decided to renege on the agreement made amongst the leadership of the ADP and ANA in 1999/2000. During discussions between the two parties it was agreed that the AUF would support my candidacy to succeed the Hon. Eric Reid in the 2005 elections.

The AUF was formed by the coming together of the two leading parties on Anguilla. This merger would not have happened if I had not decided to step down and support the Hon. Eric Reid in the interest of national reconciliation. I did this with the agreement that in 2005 the AUF would support my candidacy.
Your letter also informed me that the AUF has chosen another candidate for this constituency, and that this “decision was guided by [your] commitment to follow democratic principles”. I refute this claim by stating that no such democratic process was used in determining the AUF candidate.
In fact, I challenge the AUF leadership to provide evidence of any democratic process that was used to choose its candidate. As you will recall I was not allowed to bring my supporters to the meeting that was supposedly designed to resolve the issue of the AUF candidacy for Valley North. This was an attempt to have no dissenting voices. The fact is that your decision was based on the opinion of a few ANA supporters who want to hijack the AUF.
I am very disappointed that the AUF organization decided not to honour the principle of the agreement forged by the two parties in 1999/2000. As such, I can no longer be associated with such an unprincipled organization that makes decisions based on self-interests rather than integrity.
By way of this letter I formally resign from the Anguilla United Front Party and no longer wish to be associated with this fickle organization. I again state my intention to contest the next general election as a candidate in the Valley North Constituency, and let the people decide who they wish to have as their representative.
Yours truly
Leroy C Rogers
