A.L.H.C.S. Interhouse Cricket Tournament Gets Under Way

Despite a rain-washed out first match at the renewal of the A.L.H.C.S. Interhouse Cricket Tournament, a very impressive opening ceremony went ahead as planned.

Guest speakers included Mr. Cardigan Connor, main organiser of the tournament, Mr. Darwin Hazell, Principal of the School, Mr. Alkins Rogers, Sports Director and Dr. Phyllis Fleming-Banks, Human Resource Manager at Cap Juluca which provided sponsorship for the tournament.

More than 75 youngsters from the school were given words of encouragement to play the game with determination, discipline and dedication. They were reminded of Omari Banks who applied these 3Ds to his game which brought him much success.

They were urged to wear their uniforms with pride and to show their appreciation to their sponsor Cap Juluca both on and off the field.

The Principal said he was looking forward to seeing some of the youngsters representing Anguilla, the Leewards and even the West Indies in the very near future.

Dr. Banks spoke of Cap Juluca’s commitment to sponsoring this competition annually and providing a trophy for the winning team. She also encouraged the players to play the game with passion and enthusiasm.

Mr. Cardigan Connor gave tribute to other contributors through his association with Cap Juluca which helped sponsor the gear for the matches.

The games will be played after school during weekdays starting at 3:30 pm each day. The matches will be 15 overs per team.

The general public is invited to come out and witness the future Anguillian cricketers.
