Russian Pianist In Recital At Bethel


Russian pianist Irina Kaufman-Brooks will be performing as guest artiste in a recital at Bethel Methodist Church at 7.30 on Saturday May 1. The recital will be presented by the Music Teachers Association in collaboration with the Music Department of the Albena Lake-Hodge Comprehensive School.


Tickets for the delightful evening of music are available at the Anguilla Drugstore, Post Office, CuisinArt Resort, The Fisheries and from staff and students of the school’s music department. Children under 12 will be admitted for US$5.00 at the door.

The Russian pianist, who is married to an Anguillian, is a great lover of music and is willing to share her talent with the people of the island whenever possible. She loves Anguilla and is of the view that the island is blessed with young people who are talented in many ways.

Mrs. Kaufman-Brookes, is an Associate Professor at the Russian Classical Musical Academy. She performed at Altamer Resort from May to December 2002 as pianist for evening entertainment. She was the accompanist for the Royal Anguilla Police Force Community Choir Easter Cantata held on April 18 under the distinguished patronage of Governor and Mrs. Peter Johnstone.

Mrs. Kaufman-Brookes began playing the piano at the age of 5 and performed her first formal concert as a pianist soloist at age 11. Since then she has given performances in several recitals ands participated in various chamber ensembles.

She has given outstanding performances and taken part in vocal competitions throughout Europe and elsewhere on the international scene. She has had great success in her musical career and welcomes the opportunity to perform in Anguilla.
